We want everyone to have fun here. Be friendly, civil and respectful to each other.

But as like all RP sites, there must be rules, but not here, well not rules as such, think of it as guidlines. So please, adhere to them.

These are not rules, just suggestions. Good role players are known for their etiquette. Bad ones usually have a lot of problems.

OOC = Out of Character, as if you couldn't guess.

You are speaking as the person behind the character, not the character itself. This initialization is used in helping others recognize it is you who is talking. Used in subject lines in messages or between parenthesis when speaking during a role play, commonly at the end.

IC = In Character, used as above but for opposite reason.

First person = The use of I, you and me in a sentence when role playing. These are used in the speaking part of the character. If used in the action part, many take offense.

Third person = Pronouns, he, she, it or they. Used in the action area of what the character is doing.

Example of first and third person.

"I (first person) am the High King and I (first person) rule all the lands!" King Arthur said as he (third person) crossed his (third person) arms over his (third person) chest eying the Merlin. They (third person) began to walk across the room towards the large windows and onto the balcony. It (third person) was a long railed in area that gave a spectacular view of Camelot.

The use of he, she, it and they can be used in both as they are descriptive as well.

Punctuation and Capitalization!

Please don't run everything together. Punctuation is a real sore subject if you don't use any. It can get you deleted quick from other role players friends lists. I can't speak without taking a breath, use punctuation to show those areas of your speaking. Commas, periods, exclamation points, question marks and such are needed! Capitalize the first letter in sentences and of names, places and such.

Spelling…

Another sore point. If your spelling is bad, get a dictionary for your browser. They are called add ons or additions. Internet Explorer has them as well as Mozilla Firefox. They will underline or highlight misspelled words. Right click on them and it usually gives you choices, unless your spelling is super horrible.

Structure of your role play…

When showing action or thought it can be done in many different ways. The use of asterisks at the beginning and end are common. Some put it in italics. Others use wavy lines. I prefer book style. I put my character's spoken words in quotation marks. The rest is for descriptive and thought reference. See the bit of role play I wrote used for explaining first and third person above.

God mod-ding.

Very ugly piece of business. It is when you try and direct another person's character. You say that person kissed some other or try some other thing that their character wouldn't do. Never put words or actions in another role player or character's mouth or actions. Ask first if you can do it!!!

Swearing or Cursing.

Use that which goes with the character and time era. If you don't know, use astericks or symbols for it. It is acceptable.

Net Speak.

This is used when speaking to YOUR friends in ooc. Using it in role play is hated. I've seen many lose the ability to have role play friends because of it. I personally hate it. Example: "U chat wit me lack dis n u  be deleted." We don't use net speak here.

Canon, uncanon or original…that is the question!

Canon = as the person is portrayed, or acted as in the books, movies etc.

Un canon = A character from a book or movie that you have placed your own selected personality on. (Frowned upon.)

Original = A character you have made up and use to play a certain role play type of genre.

Profile Photo's?

Most use the actor or actress of the selected character, hence the disclaimer. Use of your own photo is not prohibited. If you wish to take photos of yourself and use them for the character you can. It isn't frowned upon. If you can make yourself look similar to the character selected, it is greatly respected. Don't steal photos from others profiles!  Deletion by others can happen! Go out on the net and get them. I don't advise using a photo website like photo bucket to get photos for your profile. Use it to store your photos in, mark it private.

Emo characters…

Emo means emotional. Those who like a lot of drama. Those who do these sort of characters find it best to stick with others of the same kind. If the character isn't originally emo from the books or movies, then find a group of friends who play it like you do. That is a warning. Not many want over dramatization. If your character is emo naturally, then write him as he would be in the book. If your character is original and you play him emo...keep him in character in the story line.

KNOW YOUR CHARACTER!

If  you haven't read the book or watched the movies, preferably both, then how can you play the character properly? Take time to learn as much as possible. Read the books, watch the movies. Find websites that can help you. Know where they live, how they live, how they eat, sleep, dress, feel…etc. If your going to step into a characters persona, you need to know all you can. I bookmark websites for reference in case I need assistance. IF by chance there is nothing on whatever you need to know, think on it hard before putting it in writing. Would the character…..? Learn about your character and everything surrounding them.

Sexuality…

Touchy subject. You can do just about whatever with this. You can be gay, bi, lesbian, straight or celibate. Keep sex in messages or private blogs please.

Personally, I try and feel out my character. If they show in the books and movies they like the opposite sex in a special way, I play them that way. To do otherwise to me is un canon. Arthur loves Guinevere. I would say he is straight. I believe that Lancelot is straight; he loves the women way too much! So think about it. You go off track with a character, you may get some snubbing. Whatever happens in messages and private blogs is between you and them.

LEECHING…

Like it sounds…being dominant over another or hanging onto them excessively. Being pushy in a passive or dominant form. Remember, some people have real lives and can't be online a lot. If your character and another hit it off good and you think they need to partner, talk to the other player in ooc about it. That is how people pair up. Treat others with respect.

PLAYING OFF OF OTHERS COMMENTS ON A DIFFERENT CHARACTERS PROFILE.

Say you are role playing with a friend and you notice a comment on their profile. You want to play on it. Don't just start doing it. Ask if you can. Nothing like a nosy busy body to make some one mad. I ignore others comments unless ASKED to look at them or to join in.

One liners….

It's like just saying…."Hello." in a comment or with a short sentence added like …puts out hand. Not much to work with there. Wouldn't you rather have.

"Hello (insert name)! Have you been to Camelot yet?" The bard asked with a smile as he came up beside (insert name) in the streets of Cornwall.

It's a start. Called a para role play. This is considered one paragraph.  Most role players won't answer a one liner. They find it rude and inconsiderate. Another reason to know your character and its background.

Multi para is more than one paragraph. Usually close to three. I have learned to copy what I have written and then after posting, go back to  make sure it all made it.

Novella is what it sounds like. A whole lot of writing, many paragraphs all done in an appropriate structure and content.
